The Role - HR Generalist
This full-time remote position will be responsible for several critical human resources functions, primarily payroll, compensation, employment law and compliance matters. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for people and is one who enjoys supporting the organization's biggest investment, its people, in meeting their compensation and benefits needs.
Being a hybrid/remote company, with employees in over 23 states, ensuring business compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations is of utmost importance. This role will drive key compliance initiatives around local, state, and federal requirements for new state entry and registrations, including leave laws, paid sick time, WH and UI taxes, etc. Will partner with the HR and Legal teams to monitor and ensure compliance with the company's legal obligations regarding FMLA, ADA, EEO/Affirmative Action, Workers' Compensation, PFL and Disability Benefits Laws and other applicable employment laws.
This candidate will be responsible for the full-cycle payroll process, including accurately processing payroll, bonuses, commissions, tax payments, insurance deductions, FSA, reimbursements, etc.as part of our HRIS system/payroll provider.
This role will partner with the HR team to build equitable and data driven policies around compensation. Will assist with the development and maintenance of compensation bands across the organization and continuously benchmark compensation data to ensure competitiveness and equity.
This position will also be responsible for collaborating with the HR team to implement strategies and initiatives related to employee benefits. A thorough technical knowledge of the workings of group insurance plans, plan documents, spd's and reporting requirements to be in compliance with federal and state regulations would be beneficial.
The person will report directly to the EOS Worldwide HR Director.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Full-cycle payroll process and administration (semi-monthly and off-cycle as needed)
- Administers and tracks leave of absences including, short-term disability, long-term disability, FMLA, and other state-specific leave requirements
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; review and update policies and practices as needed
- Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave
- File appropriate reports- Workman's Comp, EEO-1 reports, ACA, etc. and maintain other essential records/reports
- Assist with the development and implementation of compensation and benefits programs that are competitive and equitable; develop modifications to compensation bands as needed
- In partnership with service providers, support all compensation and benefits administration aspects- enrollment, contributions, billing, reconciliation and reporting
- Participate in development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and ongoing reports for company scorecards; should have familiarity with HR KPIs
- Audits and analyzes HR data to ensure that all records are accurate and provides data-driven recommendations for process improvements
- Oversee unemployment claims, verifications and provide timely responses
- With a solid foundation of HR knowledge, employment laws and practices, will have a keen ability to serve as an HR business partner in regard to terminations, compensation planning and employee relations investigations
- May assist with preparing presentations and other ad-hoc HR projects
- Other duties as assigned, which may be added to or changed dependent on the growing needs of the department and company
Skills and Qualifications:
- Must share EOS Worldwide's Vision and Core Values

- 3 + years' experience managing payroll, benefits and compliance matters
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related relevant degree
- PHR/SHRM Certificate required (or equivalent)
- Proven understanding of local state and federal laws and a familiarity with SPD's, EEOC, ADA, and other reporting requirements
- Experience managing benefits and compensation in a Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
- Strong data management and analysis skills required
- Strong G-Suite skills (ability to create spreadsheets in Excel)
- Sound judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, regulations and government law (both Federal and State)
- Experience with benefits, COBRA administration, 401K processing, Leave of Absences and Paid Family Medical Leave
- Ability to maintain digital files, applicable systems and keep items in a logical and organized manner; knowledge of record retention best practices
- Must be able to handle highly confidential information with discretion
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A passionate eye for detail and accuracy with strong follow-up skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment; flexible and adaptable regarding changes in process and procedures.
- Willingness to learn and take initiative on variety of tasks and projects
- SME with core HR compliance functions
- Must reside in the Eastern or Central Time Zone
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Rippling and CompAnalyst are a plus
- Experience working in a company running on EOS is a plus
- Experience in a remote working environment
- Experience working for an entrepreneurial organization
- Global workforce experience
Location: Work from home position with occasional work travel/SE Michigan as needed for collaborative meetings
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $65,000 - $80,000/year base salary range, commensurate with experience, with the potential for a merit-based bonus plus health benefits, flex-time, 401k match, monthly tech stipend, flex PTO, FSA, and more!
