Hr Generalist

Job Summary:

 Ths HR Generalist position will support talent acquisition and employee relations for the Southfield/Detroit branch office and is primarily responsible for full-cycle recruiting of hourly employees.  This position also assists our HR team in the execution and monitoring of human resources practices and procedures to drive compliance, and provides support for employee relations issues.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the recruitment and ongoing development of the workforce at the branch.
• Perform direct recruiting and sourcing activities for open positions, and move candidates through applicant tracking system and pre-employment screening processes
• Coordinate hiring, training, and on-boarding, including processing paperwork and entering information into workforce management system 
• Maintain and ensure the integrity of personnel files, applicant tracking and workforce management systems
• Oversee and conduct employee on-boarding including policy orientation, uniform distribution, and benefits orientation.
• Maintain standard uniform levels based on established benchmarks
• Assist with the investigation and handling of employee relations issues, including supporting with involuntary terminations
• Explain company personnel policies, benefits, and procedures to staff and job applicants
• Compile and prepare reports and documents pertaining to HR activities and uniform distribution
• Stay current on recent federal, state and CBA changes
• Manage the organization’s culture, processes, practices and systems to ensure that all employees are allowed to contribute to the business goals of the company and its clients
• Prepare correspondence and memos as needed
• Other duties as assigned    

Qualifications:

• Education and/or Experience:  Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development or a related field.  1-3 years of HR experience working in an industry with a large remote hourly workforce preferred.  Must have a working knowledge of all Human Resource generalist functions.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  Ability to obtain any necessary licenses.  PHR preferred. 
• Language Skills:  Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Other Qualifications:  Required skills include excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills, excellent computer skills and ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.  Experience with applicant tracking systems preferred.  Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
• Travel:  Ability to travel to the Chicago branch periodically.
• Physical Demands:  Standard office environment.
