Under moderate supervision and with moderate latitude for independent judgment, help oversee the efficient and accurate operation of HR processes and systems, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, employee records maintenance and storage
Major Position Responsibilities
- Assist with recruitment efforts for hourly and salaried employees, including posting and advertising positions, assisting hiring managers in use of applicant tracking system, and ensuring completion of searches
- Work closely with supervisors and managers of union employees on adherence to contractual provisions and in ensuring compliance of HR practices with collective bargaining agreements
- Assist in advising employees and managers on HR policies and procedures and in providing guidance on resolving performance nuance problems, disciplinary action, and employee relations issues
- Participate with other HR staff in planning, developing, and implementing personnel policies, systems, workflows and procedures. Participate in HR initiatives such as onboarding, training and external data requests
- Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resource functions and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance
- Assists in various requests for information from corporate, government agencies, etc
- Performs data entry and record keeping in PeopleSoft as assigned
- Assist HR Business Partner and staff in special projects when needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- Must be bi-lingual in English and Spanish
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field, along with 3 years relevant experience in a unionized manufacturing environment
- Must have excellent employee relations skills and the ability to help solve employee issues when they arise
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential as well as the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel
- Broad knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel and Office
- Knowledge of HRIS systems helpful
- Broad knowledge of HR practices and employment law relating to Human Resources
- Must be willing to work flexible hours when needed
- Must be willing to travel periodically for training purposes
