Job Title: HR Business Partner
Department: Human Resources
Reports To: Human Resources Vice President
Summary
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for supporting employees and leadership in designated customer groups. The HRBP aligns workforce solutions with strategic business objectives by building effective relationships with leaders and employees; creates a culture of engagement, guest service and improvement; assesses and develops talent; and ensures a safe and respectful workplace.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly manages the HR Generalist and HR Coordinator. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

HRBP Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains regular dayshift office hours and is available during other shifts when necessary, including weekends.
  • Supports and upholds the Gaming Enterprises' Mission, Vision, Core Values, Administrative Policies and culture of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
  • Acts as the main point of contact within the HR department for leaders and employees of their customer groups. Partners with the recruiting, benefits/HRIS, ECM and training teams to respond to the needs of their customer groups.
  • Partners with business leaders to develop and implement best in class service standards. Works with service solutions for the business units.
  • Builds relationships with leaders and employees within their designated customer groups to best understand the business operations, strategic goals and barriers to success.
  • Partners with leaders in diagnosing organizational design needs. Designs and implements organizational changes. Provides change management expertise to support organizational change initiatives.
  • Partners with operational leaders to conduct investigations and resolve employee grievances and complaints.
  • Provides coaching and counsel to leaders to help resolve challenging employee and team issues, improve leadership performance, plan and implement workforce efficiency efforts, manage involuntary employee terminations, and improve employee productivity.
  • Partners with operational leaders to execute solutions that meet the needs of the customer group and implement programs, processes and tools developed for workforce planning, performance management, performance rating alignment, talent management, succession planning, change management, knowledge transfer, employee engagement, diversity and compensation planning, including training leaders on the effective use of those processes and tools.
  • Mediates and works towards consensus regarding strategic and operational goals and decisions between HR and customer groups.
  • Develops data collection processes and uses HR data, dashboards and trends to diagnose underlying causes of key business issues and identify opportunities to improve employee engagement and/or business performance.
  • Supports the selection and development of Enrolled Community Members consistent with the Gaming Enterprise's Community and Indian Preference guidelines.
  • Partners with the ECM Development Manager.

Responsibilities also include:

  • Responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of HIPAA security requirements, as required by employees exposed to ePHI data, by attending mandatory training provided annually by the Gaming Enterprises.
  • Maintains complete confidentiality at all times.
  • Attends all required meetings and training.
  • Develops own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gains or maintains external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
  • Maintains an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading print/online media.
  • Understands the service industry, guest service attributes and best practices.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in, Behavior Sciences, Employee Relations, Business or related field required; Master's degree a plus; 5 years' experience managing employee relations functions and employee relations/human resources staff, preferably in the gaming and hospitality industries and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have excellent PC skills and knowledge of HRIS and Microsoft Office applications, especially MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

Other Qualifications
Must have the ability to express ideas clearly in both oral and written communication. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment. Must be able to coordinate multiple priorities simultaneously, set and meet deadlines. Must present a well-groomed appearance. Must be able to work weekends and evenings when necessary.

Language Skills
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
