Form of workMission-driven AI startup in SF looking for an HR Business Partner to join their small but mighty people operations team. You will help build out HR policies and strategies, acting as a trusted leader and guide on a wide range of employee-related topics. Areas of focus will include employee support, performance management, benefits and compensation, visa guidance, and administration and compliance. You will help test, select, and implement new HR tools with the goal of creating an exceptional experience for employees. The ideal candidate has a high EQ and can remain calm under pressure. People are your passion, you are a great mediator, and you are happy to be the point guard for difficult conversations. This is not your first go-round and you have a strong working knowledge of human-resource-related best practices which you can effectively implement. This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco, 2-3 days/week. 160-220K+ DOE + equity, unlimited PTO, 401K, and more, with lots for you to craft!
Responsibilities:
- Providing support to employees and managers on all human resource-related topics throughout their lifecycle at the company, and running point on employee relations.
- Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on all HR-related topics and help to set their human resources strategy as they scale.
- Building out and scaling the HR infrastructure. From testing and selecting new tools to building out employee resources, you will help develop and scale the systems the company uses to provide an exceptional experience to their employees.
- Working closely with management to create a conducive culture for high performance and manage performance expectations for employees.
- In partnership with management and finance, ensuring the company is providing a competitive compensation and benefits package for employees, including conducting market research.
- Helping to administer backend HR processes such as benefits administration, administering mandated leaves, and ensuring they are in compliance with HR-related federal, state, and local laws.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5-8 years experience working in human resources, people operations, legal operations, or closely related functions.
- Experience operating at a California-based company, and relative fluency with CA-specific HR and employment policies and best practices.
- Have worked at a tech company or in a similarly fast-paced environment.
- Excel at supporting employees and managers to do their best work.
- Care deeply when it comes to helping and supporting a diverse set of people at all levels of an organization.
- Have proven experience and skill sets in providing confidential, practical support and are trained in topics like conflict resolution.
- Have strong working knowledge of human-resource-related best practices and are able to effectively implement these in a culturally appropriate fashion.
- Be a pragmatic problem-solver and enjoy developing creative solutions.
- Thrive in building and scaling processes, and enjoy identifying and setting up new systems at a quickly growing company.
- Care about ensuring that advanced AI systems are developed safely, and have at minimum a basic interest in artificial intelligence and its potential applications.
