Washington Hospitality Association, a member organization for lodging and restaurants, is seeking an HR Associate to join our team! The HR Associate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining our HR program. This position reviews, updates and implements HR policies, procedures, and initiatives that support our mission and foster a positive work environment.

The ideal HR Associate candidate will be passionate, curious and have a desire to grow and develop. The HR Associateposition will work on site in the Olympia office. There may be an opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement once fully established in the role and demonstrated ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities of the HR Associate:
- Maintain and update HR policies and procedures in accordance with legal requirements and industry best practices
- Maintain and update HR procedures, including onboarding, offboarding, performance reviews, employee benefits, and employee records management.
- Learn and understand all of our HR policies and procedures and provide guidance and support to managers and employees as needed.
- Foster positive employee relations by addressing employee concerns, promoting open communication, and resolving conflicts in a fair and timely manner.
- Communicate employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks to team members.
- Collaborate with outsourced assistance to execute annual benefits enrollment.
- Execute effective internal communication strategies to ensure employees are informed about HR-related updates, organizational changes, and important announcements.
- Promote employee understanding and awareness of HR policies and procedures through training, communication campaigns, and educational resources.
- Mediate employee conflicts and partner with outsourced assistance to conduct investigations when necessary
- Assist with recruitment and selection processes, including job postings, background checks, job offers and new employee onboarding.
What the successful HR Associate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in human resources management or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and employment laws.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills and information gathering.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Passionate about education, improvement, and learning.
- Produces high-quality work under pressure and meets deadlines.
- Ability to build positive relationships with the Association staff, teams, and members.
- Has excellent follow-through and is results focused.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Prioritizes work and projects to meet Association mission and vision.
- Experience in employee relations, and conflict resolution is a plus.
- Professional certifications such as SHRM-CP or PHR are desirable.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge and experience with database management
- Proficient with online meeting programs, including Teams and Zoom
Compensation:
- $23.80 to $31.73 per hour, DOE
