CTR Group is seeking an HR ASSISTANT in the Portsmouth, VA area. Immediate openings and urgently hiring!

Pay Range: $17.00 - $19.00 depending on qualifications

Mon – Fri 8 AM – 5 PM

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Conducts new employee onboarding/orientation processes such as required forms, urinalysis or mouth swab drug screen testing, hair follicle test collection, background checks, Form I-9 and E-Verify, respirator fit testing, and guiding through prepared trainings.
• Issues personal protective equipment (PPE) to new and current employees; maintains records for issued PPE in paper and electronic recordkeeping systems.
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
• Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, requirements for customer assignments, and needed certifications.
• Supports account managers by performing tasks related to organization and strong communication
• Provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of satellite office.
  Answers phone calls and supports visitors.
  Carries out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning etc.
• Exhibits polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and mail.
• Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
• Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
• Provides clerical support to the HR department.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Proficient with or the ability to quickly human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2-3 years Human Resources admin experience preferred
• Prior experience with temporary staffing industry or ship repair industry a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in an office setting.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
• Ability to operate a PC for 40 hours per week
• Ability to sit for long periods of time
