CTR Group is seeking an HR ASSISTANT in the Portsmouth, VA area. Immediate openings and urgently hiring!
Pay Range: $17.00 - $19.00 depending on qualifications
Mon – Fri 8 AM – 5 PM
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conducts new employee onboarding/orientation processes such as required forms, urinalysis or mouth swab drug screen testing, hair follicle test collection, background checks, Form I-9 and E-Verify, respirator fit testing, and guiding through prepared trainings.
- Issues personal protective equipment (PPE) to new and current employees; maintains records for issued PPE in paper and electronic recordkeeping systems.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, requirements for customer assignments, and needed certifications.
- Supports account managers by performing tasks related to organization and strong communication
- Provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of satellite office.
Answers phone calls and supports visitors.
Carries out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning etc. - Exhibits polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and mail.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Provides clerical support to the HR department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years Human Resources admin experience preferred
- Prior experience with temporary staffing industry or ship repair industry a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in an office setting.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Ability to operate a PC for 40 hours per week
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
