Description
Summary/Objective
Assist in the development, implementation and administration of all Human Resource functions, including recruitment, training and development, benefit administration and employee relations activities.
Essential Functions

  • Direct and administer employee relations programs and activities such as associate recognition and service awards, social functions and meetings to maintain a positive employee relations environment.
  • Direct and instruct the management staff in effective recruiting and interviewing techniques using methods to ensure the hiring and retention of qualified and efficient employees. Conduct initial interviews for all positions.
  • Insure all pre-selection activities are completed, including reference checks, physical exam, etc., to ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that employees receive required training to acquire knowledge and skill for their position through the implementation, administration and monitoring of training programs. As needed, instruct training classes, analyze and review current and proposed methods.
  • Assists with the implementation of the performance management system. Monitor the employee performance appraisal program. Read and analyze evaluations and goals to ensure appraisal comments are appropriate and goals are measurable and achievable.
  • Ensure compliance with all State and Federal laws and regulations which pertain to Human Resources by reviewing current management practices, implementing new procedures and communicating verbally and in writing any new requirements.
  • Provide assistance, guidance and counseling to the management staff and associates in order to maximize the quality and professionalism of the office and plant staff by listening and interpreting concerns and objectives and seeking solutions.
  • Develop, implement and administer policies and programs to ensure the maintenance of a positive and productive employment environment. Monitor same for fair and consistent application.
  • Assist with the implementation of employee policies and procedures, inclusive of updates to employee handbook and job descriptions, monitoring of PTO program and benefits enrollment and administration.
  • Provide clear and concise communication to employees regarding safety, welfare, wellness and health as new policies or changes to existing policies are implemented.
  • Analyze data including wage and salary reports to determine competitive compensation plan. Conduct wage survey within labor market to determine competitive wage rate.
  • Initiate and coordinate annual RFP process for company insurance policies (property, liability, worker compensation, automotive and health care). Analyze data and negotiate renewal rates. Present information to President/CEO and finalize all policy rates with insurance brokers.

Work Environment
This position works in a professional office environment. Employee must be able to use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
Stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for an eight-plus hour shift. Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field Human Resources, Business, or Management.
  • Three - five years' experience in Human Resources Generalist or Manager role.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a manufacturing facility.
  • Experience working in a Japanese company.

Travel/Work Authorization
Occasional travel is required, primarily local during the business day. Some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required as needed.
