CTG is searching for a HPC Systems Administrator to join our team to support our client in our Energy line of business in the Houston area. Initially, this would be an onsite position for training and catch up then would transition to a hybrid position.
An ambitious long-term CSE, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence R&D roadmap was developed, and the USA-based staff will play a key role in its implementation. The HPC Systems Administrator to be able to coordinate with management, peers and contractors for adequate support, task absorption or delegation, to promote coherency and deliver a high service level to researchers.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deploy a continuously evolving R&D HPC (High performance computing) environment, including on-premise, cloud-based and partner/vendor systems that are in the perimeter of the CSE, DS & AI R&D program.
- Enhance the R&D HPC environment’s robustness and efficiency through software development, scripting and automation.
- Determine end user researcher’s software stack requirements and optimize the R&D HPC environment for it.
- Coordinate with and instruct contract System Administrators in managing the R&D HPC environment.
- Participate in the acquisition of computing resources.
- Strong emphasis on system, networking, virtualization, containerization and future architectural features, abstractions and related technologies in both hardware and software.
- Position tightly integrates with the Sr. Technical Computing Systems Administrator for pre-deployment and deployment aspect of solutions with some overlapping responsibilities to the Sr. Technical Computing Systems Administrator.
- Design and deploy UNIX/Linux servers and virtual environment, coordinate with contract system admins
- Design and deploy monitoring and automation for the R&D HPC infrastructure
- Monitor systems and infrastructure with health check, contact vendors for hardware/software support
- Oversee daily computing support, ensure service desk tickets are resolved
- Investigate, evaluate, and recommend on new HPC related technologies
- Manage and support the security, accessibility, authentication and integrity of the R&D HPC environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science/Engineering, related field or field of science/engineering
- 10 years Unix/Linux (mastery level proficiency in Unix/Linux required)
- 5 years High-Performance Computing
- Excellent human relation abilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Fluent in English.
- Knowledge of Total internal IT and Computer Science processes is very important.
- Understanding and reading French is a bonus that will be valued.
