JOB OVERVIEW:
Responsible for the leadership and management of all functions of the housekeeping department, in accordance with hotel standards. Directs, implements, and maintains a service and management philosophy, which serves as a guide to respective staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School graduate or equivalent vocational training.
- Housekeeping leadership experience.
- Computer literate.
- Knowledge of budget preparation and cost controls.
- Ability to direct performance of departmental staff and follow up with corrections where needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains cleanliness standards for both guest rooms and public areas and inspects them to ensure that standards are met.
- Trains staff in all aspects of housekeeping including guest service.
- Plans work schedules and room assignments with minimum disruption to guests.
- Establish par levels for supplies and equipment. Complete requisitions to replenish shortages or additional items needed.
- Personally, inspect all rooms daily.
- Ensure that all Housekeeping functions and responsibilities are completed daily (7 days a week) to ensure consistent quality and service to hotel guests.
- Monitor the staff interaction with guests and employees ensuring prompt and courteous service; resolve discrepancies with respective personnel.
- Manages human resources functions including recruiting, selecting, and orientation, and training, performance planning and evaluating to maintain a skilled, qualified workforce.
- Prepare weekly work schedules in accordance with staffing guidelines and labor forecasts. Adjust schedules throughout the week to meet the business demands.
- Administer progressive discipline procedures; monitor compliance with such; conduct counseling sessions with employees; ensure documentation and placement of records in employee’s files.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and ensures staff follows proper inventory/cost control procedures.
- Maintains physical product standards by managing preventive maintenance programs and by scheduling ongoing cleaning activities, including deep cleaning projects.
