Housekeeping Job Description and Expectations

Monday-Friday: 9:00 am start time

Saturday and Sunday: 10:00 am start time

· Employees should clock in 5 minutes before the start of the shift. You may not clock in before that time without manager's approval.

· Associates are to be in uniform wearing a name tag, and well groomed.

· Your cart is your workstation. Make sure it is properly stocked for you to clean without hassle. Every cart should have Pink spray, Green spray, glass cleaner, and Yellow spray. You should fill a tote bag with rags and mop heads in accordance to the number of rooms on your board. Every cart should have a vacuum, long lint roller, mop, toilet brush, detail brush, and magic eraser.

· Stock your cart with towels and linen as needed from the laundry room and linen closets. Alert the Executive Housekeeper if you do not have the linen or supplies you need for the day.

· Alert the Executive if your vacuum is not working. Best practice is to turn in your vacuum before your day off weekly for maintenance to clean out.

· Follow the training guidelines given to you for in-room cleaning. Ask your Executive or the GM for a copy of these if needed.

· If a room is trashed and unable to be completed in 30 minutes, tell the Executive so it can be documented and accounted for in the daily breakdown of hours.

· During breaks, your cart should be pushed into a room or closet so supplies are not taken while unattended. You don’t want to come from a break to find you need to restock your cart.

· During a Refresh service you collect all dirty and used towels and replace them. Take all trash. Wipe down all surfaces. Remake the bed with the current linens unless you find that they are dirtied. Keep door propped open while cleaning.

· During a Full service you will clean the room as if it is a checkout just without touching the guests personal items or disturbing their space. Keep door propped open while cleaning.

· If you find soiled or bloody linens in a room, you are to use gloves and place all linens into a bag for laundry and EHK to determine if salvageable.

· It is your responsibility to pull out and replace a shower curtain that may smell bad or is stained.

· It is your responsibility to check and change a stained or dirty mattress pad, pillow protector, and duvets.

· It is your responsibility to have closet fully stocked with correct hangers, bed in bag linens, and laundry bag

· All light and the TV should be turned on to ensure they work while cleaning.

· All faucets should be turned on and toilet flushes to ensure they work properly.

· Alert maintenance of any issues found in room. Failure to notice and/or report them can result in a write up.

· Best practice to make known these issues, is to call the front desk. It is encouraged to not waste time searching to hotel for your Executive or the Maintenance head as you are allotted a time slot per room.

· As an associate of the hotel, you must greet guests in a friendly manner and conversate with them whenever possible.

· Ask guests if there is anything that you can help them with or get for them. Remember we want to anticipate guests needs before they have the chance to be inconvenienced by anything.

· Please keep language appropriate and quiet while on the floors, as the hallways echo, and we do not want to make any guests uncomfortable.

· Music should only be listened to in headphones while cleaning rooms.

· Do not clock out unless your board has been turned in and your Executive has given you explicit permission to punch out. If they have found issues that are your responsibility, you will be expected to go back and fix the rooms you previously cleaned.

· A valid call-in must be done 2 hours prior to the shift. Failure to alert the Executive or GM by 7am on weekdays and 8am on weekends will result in a write-up.

· Housekeeping hours are directly affected by the occupancy of the hotel. The hotel cannot guarantee any housekeeper a certain number of hours weekly as the flow of the business does not allow for such guarantees.
