Hotel Handyman -Roslyn-LONG ISLAND

We are looking for a hotel Handyman/Houseman to handle the day-to-day cleaning and small repairs for our hotel. (Please take a note, this job is in LONG ISLAND and the pay is $17 to $19 hourly based on experience and skills. (NO MEDICAL BENEFITS)

We are a hotel with 60 rooms and require a team player willing to be cross trained.

Job Requirements:

• Must be comfortable with hand and power tools, painting, minor repairs, and minor electrical work.
• shovel snow
• Ability to carry and move fifty (50) pounds or more throughout the property, including up and down stairways.
• Must be capable of walking, including stairs climbing, ladder climbing, kneeling, reaching, bending and lifting.
• Clean and maintain hotel guest rooms, public areas including parking lot
• Removal of all used and unused linen/terry from vacant rooms
• Replace burned out light bulbs
• Replenish supplies such as clean laundry, paper supplies etc
• Empty wastebaskets and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas
• Shampoo all common areas, hallways, guest rooms, upholstered furniture etc;
• Ensure usage of approved cleaning chemicals;
• Operate, stock and maintain storage closets
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas;
• Make rounds through the halls each shift to ensure public areas are disinfected, clean and tidy, taking care to remove or replace anything out of order;
• Perform work on a deep cleaning and preventative maintenance scheduled program for all areas of the hotel as assigned. Use power equipment when applicable.

You need to have experience with hardware tools, basic understanding of electrical, fix a lose tile, caulking, fix a leaky faucet, unclog a drain, snake a drain, change a shower head, clean the gutters, replace a toilet seat, tighten a loose door hinge, change a door knob, painting, stop a toilet that runs, change a light switch etc.

This position requires OPEN AVAILABILITY which include working weekends and holidays.
