Host/Hostess
We are seeking a Host/Hostess for our thriving Upscale Waterfront Restaurant. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate with solid experience working in upscale and dynamic high-volume restaurants or properties. Previous hosting experience is required for this position. Only those with excellent references need apply.
Objective: Deliver a memorable and exceptional guest experience
Reports to: Concierge Director/AGM
Expectations: The primary purpose of this position is to maintain excellent customer service by being warm and welcoming, professional, and courteous at all times. As a front-line employee, you are responsible for first and last impressions, and are expected to provide prompt, courteous, and professional service to guests at all times.
Main Duties & Activities:
- Answer incoming calls in a professional and timely manner
- Provide directions, answer questions, take messages, etc.
- Greet all guests with warmth and enthusiasm
- Use OpenTable to manage reservations and walk-ins
- Call and/or message guests to confirm and provide friendly reminders
- Add shift notes to guest profiles
- Maintain the OpenTable guest database
- Print chits with table assignments, special requests, and notes
- Handle table reassignment requests promptly and with care
- Pay close attention, listen carefully and attend to the needs of all guests
- If there are any issues, apologize in an empathetic manner and then sort out the problem calmly and quietly
- Answer basic event questions, then refer to Event Director
Qualifications:
- Professional, reliable, organized, and detail-oriented
- Can communicate articulately, both verbally and in writing
- Minimum one year experience as a host/front desk attendant
- Proficient in OpenTable
- General knowledge of restaurant procedures
- Enjoys meeting and talking with different people
- Positive and upbeat attitude and demeanor
- Multi-tasks efficiently
- Prioritizes and works efficiently with limited supervision
- Recognizes and resolves problems quickly and efficiently
- Takes direction and learns quickly
- Works in a team environment
- Works with the public in a calm, courteous, friendly and professional manner
- Polished appearance
Workplace Abilities:
- Deal with loud noises, large crowds and potentially upset guests
- Handle a fast-paced environment that is often stressful
- Stand, walk and remain on feet and perform job duties during your shift
