The Hospitality Internship - Food & Beverage is an up to twelve-month internship that immerses qualified candidates within the culinary arts field and gives them the opportunity to enhance their education, establish meaningful contacts, improve the quality of their work product through comprehensive feedback, and aspire to a rewarding career in the food service industry. Through specialized work plan rotations, each intern will gain invaluable Food & Beverage experience.
Work course exposure includes but not limited to the following areas: general Food & Beverage outlet operations, guest service and problem resolution, teamwork, communication, and leadership. During the program, interns will receive training and mentorship from industry leaders as they experience all aspects of the Food & Beverage. Hospitality Food & Beverage interns will be expected to not only learn various operations, but to develop and begin to lead others within those various areas.
ResponsibilitiesInclude:
- Learn and comply with all Food & Beverage standards, policies, and procedures
- Ensure cleanliness of Food & Beverage outlet areas by following health and safety policies
- High level of food and beverage service
- Present a welcoming and friendly demeanor with team members and guests
- Train and coordinate with professionals across multiple areas to perform tasks as needed
- Learn to strive to achieve departmental objectives and goals
- Welcome instruction and coaching from department professionals
- Accommodate general and unique requests
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required and Preferred Education and Experience:
Required: High school graduate
Preferred: College experience with Food & Beverage exposure
Qualifications:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, comfortable with public contact, and strong organizational skills
- Ability to (1) work with co-workers with tact and courtesy; (2) work well under pressure; (3) react quickly to changing priorities
- Strong skills in handling guests' complaints,must be able to maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency with computers (Internet, email, spreadsheets, etc.); Word and PowerPoint skills helpful
- Ability to work independently; demonstrated dependability, punctuality, and efficiency
- Standards: Maintain a positive, enthusiastic outlook; smile and greet guests
