Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled OP and IP and Profee Coding Auditor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge and experience in outpatient (OP) and inpatient (IP) coding practices, along with expertise in auditing medical records for coding accuracy and compliance. This role will play a crucial part in ensuring the integrity of coding processes, optimizing revenue capture, and mitigating compliance risks.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough audits of OP and IP medical records to assess coding accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines, documentation requirements, and regulatory standards (e.g., ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
- Identify and analyze coding discrepancies, documentation deficiencies, and compliance issues, providing detailed feedback and recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with coding staff, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to address audit findings, clarify documentation requirements, and implement corrective actions.
- Stay updated on changes to coding guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices, and ensure compliance with evolving standards.
- Prepare comprehensive audit reports summarizing findings, trends, and recommendations for management review and decision-making.
- Participate in training sessions and educational programs to enhance coding knowledge and proficiency among staff members.
Requirements:
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in outpatient and inpatient coding and auditing within a healthcare setting.
- Proficient understanding of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and other coding systems and guidelines.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to review and interpret medical documentation accurately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
- Proficiency in using coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Remote work experience required.
