TITLE: Home Health Manager

JOB SUMMARY: The nurse manager is responsible for the provision of high quality and cost effective patient care in fulfilling Cherokee Regional Medical Center's mission. The nurse manager is accountable for establishing productive work relationships with the medical staff, support departments and is responsive to community needs. The nurse manager provides leadership by maintaining standards for clinical practice, ensuring the fulfillment of hospital goals and providing management expertise. The nurse manager is responsible for developing the patient care staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current RN Licensure in State of Iowa.
- Minimum 3-years clinical experience with one-year Home Health care with previous management experience required.
- Must successfully pass the Criminal Background check
- Dependent Adult and Child Abuse certificate
- Current Basic Life Support certification.
- Successful completion of CRMC health assessment
- Valid drivers license and proof of auto insurance of vehicle being driven.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
- Must be able to handle driving in inclement weather conditions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates in the development of policies, standards and programs that support clinical practice and patient care management.
- Participates in strategic planning and the development of programs in the department.
- Directs department office by supervision of clerical support and departmental nursing staff, developing and monitoring the budget, authorizing purchases, developing office policy and performing liaison duties with public and other agencies, in order to provide for the public health of the county.
- Assists professional advisory committee, Board of Health and staff in developing and evaluating agency objectives, policies and programs. Maintain liaison with Board of Health, professional Advisory Committee, Board of Supervisors and staff.
- Identifies community health needs in order to detect health problems, deficiencies in service and to promote wellness through community surveys, input from community resources, review of vital statistics, and review of health data such as immunization levels and disease prevalence by utilizing the Advisory Committe and Board of Health and personal nursing judgment. Identifies needs for clinics, group health teaching and other community health services.
- Facilitates the personal and professional development of the patient care staff.
- Participates in the development of performance improvement opportunities, which are cooperative with other departments and disciplines.
- Prepares capital expenditures plan and annual operating budget for department. Meets approved operating expense budget or accounts for any variances. Works with other departments to assure cost savings for the hospital. Manages staff hours (regular, orientation and overtime hours) efficiently.
- Conducts regular staff meetings to communicate hospital and departmental issues. Develops and maintains accurate job descriptions and performance standards. Demonstrates skills in selecting and training new employees, evaluating, coaching and disciplining.
- Develops and implements an effective quality improvement program for the department that meets the requirements of the hospital's quality improvement plan and other regulatory bodies.
