Home Care Professional-Prn (Direct Support Professional - Prn)

SUMMARY

Open Arms Care requires consistent care for clients. At times, interim staff (a.k.a. PRN or per diem) are needed to provide consistent and quality care for clients during periods of low staffing. PRN staff schedules can be similar to full or part time staff depending on staffing needs and in many cases require holiday and/or weekend shifts. OAC maintains the right, as with all PRN staff, to offer hours as needed. Hours and site assignments may not always be consistent. Requests for PRN staff for days to work will be considered, but there are no guarantees related to scheduling

There are no employment benefits, such as paid time off, health insurance, 403(b), or other benefits afforded to full or part time employees. At any time during employment, should the employee desire to become a full or part time employee and a position is available, OAC will consider the employee’s request.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Engages clients in ongoing, meaningful active treatment and the individual support plans (ISP’s) for the client’s served in the ID/DD program; implements programs and the delivery of services according to the ISP and the requirements of CMS regulations.

• Advocates for each client’s specific needs and personal welfare in the home and community, and ensures follow-up when concerns are identified.
• Assists with coordinating, scheduling and/or transporting client’s to appointments and/or recreational activities on a regular basis; ensures all required documents, files and reports are prepared, reviewed, approved and processed in a timely manner.
• Provides accurate documentation of client’s participation and progress in all training objectives/programs to teach independent living skills; ensures day-to-day assigned tasks are completed.
• Communicates and actively participates with the inter-disciplinary process to include but not limited to individual support plans (ISP’s), behavior management, incident reports, etc.
• Interacts with client’s family members/conservator, & maintains positive relationships internally and externally.
• Must attend all required trainings/meetings and remain current on all certifications.
• Responsible for personal payroll tracking including but not limited to clocking in and out appropriately.
• Other job duties as assigned.
• Additional committees as assigned, or volunteer.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A PRN Direct Support Professional (DSP) at OAC adheres to the following pay schedule and work commitment:

• $15.00/hour-At least one (1) shift every two (2) weeks, at least one (1) weekend shift during a month, one (1) summer holiday and (1) winter holiday.

• As a PRN staff member, it is required that you: Work shifts scheduled with one or less absence in a 90-day period
• Work the minimum number of shifts required
• Provide level of care consistent with full and part time staffing
• Maintain CPR certification
• Complete mandatory training as require
• High school graduate and/or GED preferred.
• Must have valid driver’s license Ability to lift repetitively a minimum of 50 pounds; tasks may include lifting, repositioning, turning, bending, squatting, etc.
• Good oral, written and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with others
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to follow procedures, instructions, laws and policies Ability to project a positive and professional image on behalf of the organization.
• Must be an effective team member.
• Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
