Job Description for Home Health Care Aide
Duties performed will include cleaning house (making beds, doing laundry, cleaning bathroom, washing dishes) and preparing meals. Assisting disabled residents regarding such things as nutrition, cleanliness, and household activities. Additional duties will include completing a variety of reports, daily house journals, and developing plans, maintaining extensive contact with families, therapists, and other community partners.
Home Health Care Aides must perform basic medical duties such as monitoring health statistics and giving medication at appropriate times and dosages, as well as providing treatment and palliative care. They also must be able to explain treatments and medications. They must change dressings or other materials, and even conduct rehabilitative treatments if necessary, being flexible in their availability to perform their duties. Home Health Care Aides work in the home and help their clients with daily activities, such as bathing and bathroom functions, feeding, grooming, taking medication, and some housework. Home Health Care Aides help clients make and keep appointments with doctors, provide or arrange transportation and serve as a companion for their clients.
Responsibilities include positively interacting with males and females of all ages with mental and physical disabilities in a structured residential setting; providing support and guidance to residents while teaching life skills, including social responsibility and personal growth and change. Position may require activity planning and implementation.
