Under direction provides individual and family therapy to youth referred by the Tulsa County Juvenile Bureau within the youth's home and community using evidence-based practices by performing the following duties
Job Description
All candidates conditionally offered transfer, promotion, or initial hiring into a DOT/safety-sensitive position shall submit to testing for drugs and alcohol and test negative before performing any job functions that are safety-sensitive or require a CDL. External job applicants with a confirmed positive drug or alcohol test result shall be denied employment and shall be required to wait one year before applying for another position within Tulsa County.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Following a youth's referral and admission to the LIFE program meet with the youth and family to provide individual and family therapy.
• Develop individualized treatment plans with the involvement and consent of the youth and the family.
• Review and revise treatment plans on a regular basis and as needed with the family and youth when goals are completed or obstacles to treatment arise.
• Participate in staffing client cases.
• Serve as the liaison between the LIFE department and the Probation Department regarding the youth's treatment needs and treatment response.
• Plan and facilitate groups for youth and for parental support as needed and provides information and consultation to agency staff regarding best practices in working with justice involved youth.
• Respond to calls from clients and/or families for crisis solutions.
• Provide support to members of the client's immediate family throughout the change process.
• Complete documentation regarding client progress/regress including documentation regarding each family/youth contact or failure to participate in therapy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES
Skill in counseling individuals and families.
Knowledge of child development, trauma and delinquency; of the use of various evidence based/best practice therapeutic modalities; of the principles and practices of social work and psychology applicable to juvenile casework; and of County and State regulations regarding youth offenders, including Title 10 of the Oklahoma State Statues.
Ability to counsel individuals and families; to learn and incorporate new practices as deemed necessary by the program facilitator; to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends; to work under stressful conditions and to work with persons in conflict; to handle multiple tasks efficiently; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to establish effective interpersonal relationships, and create a constructive atmosphere of crisis problem solving; to work in a variety of settings with culturally diverse families and communities; to be culturally sensitive and appropriate; to speak effectively and present information and respond to inquiries from groups of managers, clients, and the general public; and to maintain and operate a personal motor vehicle.
SUPERVISORY SKILLS
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work or Human Relations; and 3 years full-time paid employment in family focused counseling.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret psychological examinations. Ability to read, develop, and interpret treatment plans. Ability to read and interpret medical reports and publications. Ability to read and interpret release of information and confidentiality forms. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete or abstract variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contact Management systems; Internet software; and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid OK Driver's License
Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, or documents verifying supervision status by the governing board.
Certification in First Aid and CPR.
Certification in CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, or other crisis management training.
