Position Title: Head CoachStatus: Supplemental Contract/Work AgreementDepartment: High School and/or Middle School AthleticsReports To: Principal, Athletic Director, & District SuperintendentFLSA Classification: ExemptWage Determination: Board of Education Approved Date: Summary: This position is responsible for coaching and providing direction to student athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork. Qualifications/Education:High School Diploma or equivalent1-3 years of experience coaching at the high school levelHead coaching experience preferredThorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sportMust possess effective coaching techniques and skills Supervisory Responsibilities: Assistant coaches & student athletes Essential Functions:Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessionsDevelop a regular practice schedule and organize practice timeCoach and instruct players regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sportTravel with student athletes on the team bus both to and from gamesEnsure proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of equipment and uniforms and update inventoriesMaintain necessary records and completes required paperworkEnsure that all proper forms are obtained and current and that all student athletes are eligible, insured, and have paid feesSupervises students in locker rooms at home and away games and ensures appropriate behaviorAssigns and distributes uniformsEnforce discipline policies and proceduresAssist student athletes with college recruitment General Responsibilities:Promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanshipMaintain a safe environment for student athletesEnsure all coaches work together towards a common goal within the program and provide unityInteract thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, parents, and officials and resolves conflict in a professional mannerParticipate in special activities to include senior nights, banquets, award nights, and pep assembliesProfessionally represents the school and DistrictAttends work regularly and is punctualAny other duties assigned by Principal/Athletic Director/Superintendent Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:Have the ability to stand for extended periods of timeRegularly required to talk or hearFrequently required to walk, run, jump, stretch, sit, and use hands for fine manipulationOccasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlAbility to lift and/or move up to 25lbs and occasionally up to 100lbsMust have the ability to demonstrate proper techniques and skills needed for athletic participationThe work environment is a standard gymnasium/athletic event setting.Moderate to high noise level Terms of Employment: At will Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education's policy concerning evaluation of classified personnel.
