RESIDENCY: Candidates must have been legal residents of Seneca County or one of the six (6) contiguous counties for one (1) month preceding the date of application.
Preference in appointment may be given to successful candidates who have been legal residents of the municipality in which appointment is to be made for at least one (1) month prior to the date of certification and are residents of such municipality at the time of appointment.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative Only):
- Collects data concerning the history of the town or county and assembles them in logical order.
- Writes and edits articles for publication concerning the past and present history of places, promotes historical places of interest.
- On request, gives lectures to groups, students and general public; • Offers advice and criticism to persons doing historical research;
- Corresponds with other county and town historians and answers inquiries on history; • Consults with teachers, students and other persons on matters concerning the history.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:
Four years of high school; three years experience in collecting historical records; or any equivalent combination of experience and training sufficient to indicate ability to do the work.
