Job Title:Histology Technician, Central Lab Services

POSITION OVERVIEW:
List the key responsibilities of the position below. Interview questions should be designed to verify that the candidate has the required experience to perform the required job duties.
- The Histology Technologist will be responsible for day to day activities in building and maintaining Central Lab Services at Frontage Laboratories.
- Responsibilities:
- Prepare tissue slides by chemically treating, embedding, cutting, mounting, staining, cover slipping, and labeling tissue sections for microscopic analysis by the pathologists
- Grossing specimens (predominantly biopsies)
- Prepare immunohistochemistry slides
- Validation and verification studies of new instrumentation and methods
- Establish and maintain standard operating procedures for designated methods
- Perform maintenance and quality control for all instrumentation and methods
- Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation, liaise with service engineers and instrument vendors
- Adhere to safety and quality procedures, participate in Proficiency Testing, maintain competency on all instrumentation (six month and annual)
- Maintain a general working knowledge of CLIA and CAP regulations, help foster audit and inspection readiness
- Partner with laboratory leadership to establish and improve processes, efficiency, and employee engagement
“Must Have”
Certified training in histology and at least 3 years of experience working as an histotech in a CLIA and/or CAP certified lab setting.
Must be able to differentiate color on stained slides and ensure proper staining technique
Qualifies for high complexity testing per the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments 42CFR1489, documentation must be provided and evaluated by laboratory leadership prior to offer.
“Preferred”
Five years (or more) of experience as an histotech in a CLIA and/or CAP certified lab setting.
