Job Summary Under general supervision of the HIM Manager and
Data Integrity Coordinator, following established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines, the
Data Integrity Specialist I manages, maintains and restores the integrity of the Master Patient Index and the electronic health record. The
Data Integrity Specialist I identifies and resolves issues including but not limited to duplicate medical records, Epic chart corrections, scanned document corrections, patient amendment requests, and record overlays. The
Data Integrity Specialist I provides oversight and expertise to all Tampa General health system team members concerning the integrity of the Master Patient Index and the electronic health record. They are responsible for duplicate medical record review during patient conversion projects related to strategic growth of the health system. The
Data Integrity Specialist I is responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Two (2) years experience in an HIM setting, IT setting, and/or other healthcare setting.
- Ability to be self-directed and learn at a fast pace.
- Ability to apply analytical skills necessary for identification and proper resolution of problems related to the integrity and correction of electronic and paper health records.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills necessary for communication with end users, management and other Tampa General health system team members regarding resolution and education of integrity issue.
- Intermediate computer skills with computer programs and applications including but not limited to: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word.
