Job Description
A Lab Foreman will be responsible for assisting the Quality Assurance Manager to develop, implement, and maintain a Quality and Food Safety Program that ensures all products and procedures are within specifications and meet all food safety and quality requirements.
Lab Technician responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Shall be trained in all laboratory procedures that are utilized in the operation regarding both food safety and quality.
• Shall be trained and qualified to operate the Laboratory Equipment including Calibration Techniques for each piece of equipment utilized in the Food Safety and Quality Program.
• Shall be fully trained and qualified in the appropriate methods of testing per procedure.
• Enter all test results and other pertinent information on the appropriate log.
• Perform Internal Inspections and document review as assigned by QA Manager.
• Track silo temperatures and maintain calibration of thermometers.
• Notify immediate supervisor when deviations occur.
• Assist QA Manager in compliance with regulatory, food safety and quality requirements.
• Shall aid in the oversight for efficiency and accuracy of the Laboratory Technicians.
• Oversee and perform the sampling and inspection of raw materials, including store and use, to ensure that they meet company standards.
• Oversee and perform finished product testing, including Keeping Quality testing. • Oversee inventory of products and supplies in the lab.
• Assist QA Manager to schedule lab cleaning and sanitation.
• Assist QA Manager to ensure the plant facilities and operating programs comply with government regulations regarding quality control and coordinate activities related to visits from regulatory agencies and/or third part auditors.
• Coordinator raw milk, weight control program, sampling program and testing, and all finished product reporting to QA Manager.
• Oversee and track Allergen Program. Report regularly to QA Manager.
• Oversee and track Environmental Monitoring Program. Report regularly to QA Manager.
The following qualifications are preferred:
• Shall have attended a Chemical Safety Training session within the past 12 months.
• Shall have attended GMP, FSMA, Food Defense Awareness, and Allergen training.
• Shall meet all requirements of the SQF program.
• Shall meet all requirements of the FSMA Preventive Controls program.
• Shall comply will all requirements for Personal Protective Equipment as defined by appropriate plant procedures.
• Shall comply with all Safety Rules and Policies.
The following qualifications are required:
• High school diploma or equivalent and a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or a related subject
• Minimum two years’ experience in Laboratory work
• Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Proficient with and enjoy detailed work
• The desire to work well with your team and others
• To be coachable and be willing to learn
