Holders of this Job Title will complete tasks such as:
- Operate basic equipment, such as single axle trucks (dump, flatbed, pickup) in order to install or repair trafficsignals, roadway lighting, and/or their components as needed.
- Place traffic control devices in work zones and serve as flagger to control and direct traffic through workzones.
- Assist contractors with installing or repairing traffic signals or lighting devices.
- Maintain and complete records and reports on equipment, materials, and work orders.
- Experience operating basic single axle truck equipment such as a dump truck, flatbed, or pick up truck.
- Work zone traffic control, safety, and flagger training.
- Knowledge of traffic signal and roadway lighting installation, programming and maintenance standards andpolicies.
- Ability to complete records and reports on equipment, materials, and work orders.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Must have one year of experience in electrical or electronic installation or electrical or electronics maintenance work.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:Vocational or technical training in electricity, electronics or a related field will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):Must be 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Must possess certification in International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level I training. https://www.imsasafety.org/. Must possess certification in NFPA 70E Training for Qualified Employees for Low and High Voltage scenarios (NFPS.org). Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Working Conditions
Incumbents in this job title typically perform their work at various locations throughout the district or at a Highway Traffic facility. Must be able to work extended hours and during inclement weather, when necessary.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
