Holders of the Highway Traffic Technician Assistant position will complete tasks such as:
- Operating single axle truck and other basic equipment/tools.
- Placing traffic control devices and serving as flagger during maintenance activities.
- Inspecting and/or assisting qualified employees with on-call duties and emergency calls.
- Attending required training classes.
- Operation of bucket truck and work-zone safety.
- Computer/software skills in support of electrical device maintenance.
- Work on signal cabinet components and other devices such as building signal head displays.
- Inventory management and maintaining records/reports on equipment and work orders.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- High school graduate.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Working Conditions
Incumbents in this job title typically perform their work at various locations throughout the district or at a Highway Traffic facility. Must be able to work extended hours and during inclement weather, when ecessary.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
