Position Overview:
- Our academic support and study skill program is designed to help students improve in their area of difficulty, but we also strongly believe in mentoring and teaching self-efficacy toward their education.
- To succeed, students will be encouraged to understand their own academic weaknesses and strengths.
- teacher or coach must be either TEA-certified or highly qualified with a college degree and experience in their field of instruction.
- Provide instruction to individual or small groups of students to improve academic performance or prepare for tests.
- Teach students study skills, note-taking skills, and test-taking strategies.
- Collaborate with students, faculty and staff to determine student needs, develop tutoring plans and assess student progress.
- Communicate students' progress to students and document progress reports.
- Develop learning and training materials, such as handouts, study materials and quizzes.
- Identify, develop and implement intervention strategies and tutoring plans for students.
- Maintain records of students' assessment results, progress and feedback
- Prepare lesson plans or learning modules for tutoring sessions according to students' needs and goals.
- Provide timely feedback to encourage, motivate and build confidence in students.
- Organize tutoring environment to promote productivity and learning.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and leadership to ensure that all students meet the appropriate learning standards as measured by the required corresponding assessments.
- Increase student achievement using support research-based strategies for improving instruction quality.
- Prepares, models, delivers, and assesses instruction for teachers.
- Implement and participate in high quality professional development designed to support district-based initiatives, increase student achievement using strategies for improving instruction quality.
- Assists in assessing the level of services to be provided to each student based on assessments and proficiency levels.
- Qualifications:
- Strong background in specific discipline and previous experience working with students.
- Candidates should have excellent communication skills (oral and written), active listening skills, critical thinking skills and a commitment to student success.
- Must be able to work 8-12 hours per week (2-3 days per week)
