The Work: Our Summer Academy staff are excited to facilitate learning and create an environment for students to succeed. We are hiring staff to work in our Summer Academy program, providing academic enrichment and structured new experiences. At Summer Academy, we are committed to helping our students feel success and growth by providing thoughtful, intentional academic experiences, and sharing our excitement around academic content.
The Role: The Summer Academy High School Program Coordinator Assistantwill work closely with the Student U Summer Academy Leadership Team to plan, prepare, and implement the High School Summer Academy Program. The High School Program Team Assistant will meet with the High School Program Team to plan for upcoming events, plan program-wide summer events, and assist with providing support with the day-to-day logistics of the summer academy programming. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience working with youth, planning and coordinating youth programs, and a belief in Student U's mission and values.

Time: Part-Time (March-May), Full-Time (June 5th - August 1st, 2024)

Pre-Summer Responsibilities (~60 hours total)
In collaboration with the Summer Academy Leadership team, more specifically the HS Team and Dean of Students, the High School Program Team Assistant will:
- Create/Adjust/Edit lesson plans for non-instructional time (Homeroom activities and Summer Academy events) that builds positive culture, builds college readiness and promotes Student U core values
- Participate in the implementation of pre-Summer Academy Student U-wide events (ex. Teacher Orientation, Family Day, etc)
- Work with Program Team to structure the Summer Academy Culture & Events
- Participate in Summer Academy planning meetings & regular check-ins with the Summer Academy Leadership Team, especially the High School Program Coordinator.
During Summer Academy:
- Participate in the planning and implementation of Summer Academy Student U-wide events (ex. Student Orientation, Celebration, etc) (in-person/virtual)
- Track daily attendance, report absences to the HS Program Team, and help make phone calls (in-person)
- Manage daily program announcements for summer academy teachers (in-person/virtual)
- Coordinate/Execute logistics of events (ex. Career Day, Olympic Day, Share Day, etc) (in-person/virtual)
Commitment: Part-Time (March-May) Full-Time (June-First week in August)

May 2024: HS Teachers Check In, (Date & Time - TBD)
June 10th - 21st, 2024: Teacher Orientation, 8am - 4pm (in person)
June 12th, 2024: HS Teacher Workday, prep for first week
June 15th, 2024: Family Day, 10:00am - 12:00pm (in person)
June 19th, 2024: Student U is Closed No programming (observing Juneteenth Holiday)
June 24th - July 26th, 2024: Summer Program (in person), approximately 9 hours daily, +1 hour weekly staff meeting on Tuesdays.
July 29th - July 31st, 2024: Evaluation Week, 8am - 4pm (in person)
