Job Title: High School Cross Country Assistant Coach
Reports to: High School Cross Country Head Coach
Salary: $1,600 - $1,800

Job Summary:
Join our staff as the high School Cross Country Assistant Coach and lead a team of highly dedicated student athletes. The assistant Cross Country coach promotes an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork and sportsmanship.
Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A teacher with a current teaching license is preferred but not a requirement.
• Current CPR and AED Certification.
• Previous coaching experience in this sport at the High School level is desirable.
• Have a valid driver's license, be able to drive, and qualify under the district's insurance carrier when driving a district vehicle.
• Desire to continue career improvement.
• Excellent oral and verbal communication skills.
• Proven problem-solving skills.

Essential Functions:

• Assists the head coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach.
• Assesses player's skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the head wrestling coach informed of the athletic performance of students.
• Assists with determining game strategy.
• Assists the head coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition.
• Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
• Maintains the equipment room in orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security.
• Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the head coach.
• Promote an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Support the value of an education.
• Help students achieve gains in athletic skill and team performance.
• Maintain good public relations for the wrestling program
• Ensure that health and safety precautions are observed during all activities.
• Follow school, league, district, and CHSAA regulations and policies.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
