Job Title: High-Quality Water Operations Supervisor

Location: University of Iowa Campus, Iowa City, IA

 

What You Can Expect 

 

Our High Quality Water Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Oakdale Water Plant, MacBride Nature Recreation Area Public Water System, water softeners, RO/DI systems, stills, and pools and spas across campus. They ensure that water production quality is maintained, and customers are kept informed of maintenance activities. They work  with the Water Treatment Services Manager to ensure that work and expenses are accurately charged. Advise design professionals and work with contractors to ensure that design and construction of new systems meet requirements to allow for proper flushing, disinfection, sampling, and maintenance access. Develop written design standards for water treatment systems and processes. Aids customers in solving water quality problems that arise in their facilities and systems. Conducts reviews of completed construction for purposes of signaling acceptance of finished product. May also directly perform sampling and maintenance activities as needed to support the workload of the group. Works with the maintenance supervisor to develop and implement a robust preventative maintenance program. You will be frequently working with the Capex team and The University of Iowa Design and Construction to provide input on design and to support projects when required.

 

Everyday you will be visiting multiple sites on campus. Supervising employees championing compliance with our corporate safety program and promoting safety culture. You will be developing and maintaining relationships with clients across campus discussing and making recommendations for services and equipment, cost and quantities of water provided. You will be for checking on equipment, verifying quality of service and operations,  sampling and monitoring water quality and informing team members and customers to determine and track water quantity and quality produced  and determining the Preventative maintenance schedule. You will be participating in continuing education gaining certifications in water treatment and distribution

 

What You’ll Bring  

 

  • A High School Diploma / GED or equivalent required
  • You will have Three (3) years of experience where you learned water treatment methods such as distillation, deionization, softening, reverse osmosis, disinfection, de-chlorination, and treatment of pools and spas, where you sampled and documented the results
  • You will have direct experience managing staff performance and development
  • Experience and proven commitment to implementation of robust maintenance management practices
  • You will have demonstrated understanding  of business functions including; financials (profit and loss), work order systems, charge-out rates, customer interface, and procurement processes
  • You have experience with safety and environmental compliance programs including confined space entry, falls, forklift, lockout, process safety and risk management, respirator, and chemical right to know
  • You are experienced with computers, instrumentation, and software systems for process analysis, supervisory control and data acquisition, data processing, maintenance management and report generation
  • You will have gained experience with applying basic electrical, mechanical, and plumbing skills
  • You will have had experience with quantitative laboratory procedures including tests for alkalinity, water hardness, stability index, free and total chlorine, turbidity, color, total dissolved solids, suspended solids, pH, corrosion rates, phosphate, lead, copper, coliform bacteria, heterotrophic bacteria plate counts, and other water testing procedures
  • You will have experience with mathematics including English/Metric system conversion factors and formulas for area, volume, density, dosage, pressure, flow, detention time, chemical feed rates, and solution strength
  • You have gained knowledge of biology, microbiology, and human health including the life cycles, pathogenic characteristics, and water treatment disinfection strategies for algae, bacteria, protozoa, viruses, and other organisms 

 

Additional Details

 

  • This role requires daily attendance at worksite 
  • Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license/clean driving record. You will be operating company  vehicles
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies 
  • The position consists of a mix of indoor and outdoor work. Exposing the employee to weather conditions 
  • Could involve some lifting / up to 35 lbs.

 

Compensation  

 

Salary Range: $75,500 – $111,780 USD annually 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
