Reports to: Laboratory Supervisor and/or Director Location: Brookhaven, GA
Schedule: Monday- Friday OR Tuesday- Saturday Shift: 9 AM to 5 PM
(with rotating weekends as needed)
Position Summary:
The Technical Supervisor will provide oversight for the Clinical Chemistry and Point of Care (POC) testing throughout the laboratory. This position serves as a technical resource person and facilitates the guidance, on-going education, and training of staff. Assists to develop and enforce practices that meet all operational and regulatory laws and standards (including HIPAA).
This position reports to the Laboratory Manager and/or Director.
The hours are Monday-Friday 9 AM to 5 PM or Tuesday-Saturday 9AM to 5 PM, with rotating weekends as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise operations of the day-to-day Clinical Chemistry/Hematology Department
- Ensure laboratory tests are accurately performed and results are reported in a timely manner
- Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel of the department.
- Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate coverage for technical and non-technical support.
- Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary
- Engage in continuous process and service level improvements
- Experience in analyzing and interpreting large data sets to identify trends and correlations, and develop tables or graphs to allow for data-based decision making
- Knowledge of the hazards of working with potentially infectious material and must know and apply appropriate precautions
- Knowledge of maintaining specimen integrity and Quality Assurance (QA) activities including, but not limited to, inspecting specimen collection quality, examining Quality Control (QC) data to determine acceptability, accurately analyzing quarterly Proficiency Testing (PT) specimens, and comprehensively documenting laboratory work performed
- Organizational skills and attention to detail to coordinate multifaceted testing activities
- Experience with verifying or validating assays for implementation

Basic Requirements:
Education and Experience
- Four-year degree in chemistry or related life science field is required
- Two years of clinical laboratory experience in chemistry, blood banking or POC testing (preferred)
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent) (required)
- Experience the following instrumentation: DxC700 AU, DxH900, and DxI600 (preferred)
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of routine operation, maintenance and theory of analytical instrumentation, SOPs and regulatory guideline
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory authority and guidelines
- Excellent manual dexterity skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Time management and project management skills
- Proven problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to cross-train on sample preparation techniques with another laboratory group
- Ability to work in a collaborative work environment with a team
