JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is estimated to last 6 months. It is a temporary position that will continue through the end of a specific job.
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible to for operating/driving Heavy Equipment in a safe and effective manner. Heavy equipment may include trucks, excavators, front-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, and other pieces of equipment. The Heavy Equipment Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as required by law. This position may also be involved in miscellaneous physical labor tasks depending on the job.
Essential Functions
· Work well with all co-workers, residents and customers
· Follow direction of Foreman/Supervisor as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite
· Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
· Clean Heavy Equipment as scheduled and/or required
· Ensure Heavy Equipment is safely and securely stored
· Advise the Foreman/Supervisor of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
· Participate in routine maintenance
· Practice workplace safety
· Maintain inventory
· Ensure access to houses, water supply and waste sites
· Maintain easements
· Perform pre-winter, winter, spring and summer maintenance on roads
· Use equipment to level roads and ensure proper drainage
· Operating equipment safely and efficiently by following proper loading and unload procedures
Qualifications & Specialized Training requirements
Knowledge

Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have direct reports.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Position can be a physically strenuous and demanding job. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, manual dexterity for handling large machines and small components/tools; ability to lift heavy objects; visual acuity for inspection and repair of systems and equipment. Must be able to work in all weather and be prepared to work in both extreme heat and cold. Able to climb and work from a ladder. Position involves on-site activity in construction situations, including walking and navigating through job sites and unusual conditions, moving and positioning loads up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders and moving on temporary structures. Necessary precautions must be taken to wear appropriate PPE. Ground travel will be required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time, non- exempt position. Standard work hours will be 4 ten hour shifts. Work hours may be dependent on specific job needs but can include early mornings and potentially later shifts.
- Willing and able to work extended hours when necessary, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be prepared to respond and participate in off-hour events and emergencies, as needed.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day. Travel is expected and mandatory. Travel to other Regions/District and state may be required as projects are determined and assigned.

· Attendance is an imperative job function.
· Driver’s license and a clean MVR is a requirement of the position.

Pay: $26.00 - $27.00 per hour
