Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician

Bluerock Underground provides underground horizontal boring, excavating and underground utility installation to internet service providers, public water, public sewer and other utilities.

Overview:

We are currently on the lookout for a full-time Field Service Technician to join our team. Most employees work four consecutive days, followed by a three-day weekend.  This individual is responsible for high quality and effective repair of equipment in the field. The successful incumbent must work independent of direct supervision, provides excellent customer service, maintain professionalism, and ensure appropriate and detailed records for time, parts, supplies, purchases and repairs.  Regional travel is required.  

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostic inspections as directed.
• Maintain complete and detailed working records for time, parts, supplies, and outside purchases for repairs.
• Maintain and care for shop tools, all Company equipment and Company vehicles.
• Accountable for following all DOT, OSHA, MSHA, ISO9001 and established Company rules, regulations and guidelines.
• Ability to hookup to machines and diagnose with laptop.
• Ability to perform fabrication and welding processes.
• Ability to perform preventative maintenance on a regular schedule.
• Must possess a CDL or ability to obtain one.
  

Job Qualifications:

• High School diploma, GED or vocational training/certification.
• 1 - 3 years’ experience in the same or similar industry.
• Own and maintain personal tool inventory.
• Mechanical/technical aptitude, safe work habits, a good working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions. Strong current electronic diagnosing capabilities, works with minimal supervision, customer service oriented, a problem solver, reliable, ethical, able to adapt to the people and environment around them - customers, suppliers, co-workers and manufacturer's employees.
• Experience with complex hydraulic systems, electrical, car bus systems, electronics, pneumatics, diagnosing and calibration a plus.
• Communicates professionally, respectfully and honestly at all times.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Regularly exposed to extreme weather elements.
• Travel required.
• This position requires a valid driver's license.
• Experience working on directional drills, excavators, and similar equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:

• Sit for long periods of time (up to an entire workday) while operating equipment, including the constant use of hand and foot controls.
• Lift, place materials, stand, walk, turn, stoop, kneel, crawl, reach, crouch, speak and hear continuously.
• Lift up to 100lbs.
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Wear safety equipment: as per OSHA requirements including but not limited steel toed and/or metatarsal shoes, hard hat, lanyard, fire retardant, protective eye wear, etc.
• Be safety and customer-focused, without exception.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

• This position requires the completion of a thorough background and pre-employment drug screening. Employees are required to participate in random, post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing as requested.
