The Coney Island YMCA is seeking a Healthy Lifestyles Program Facilitator, who will be responsible for delivering standard programcurriculum and content in groups or one-on-one settings, while providingfacilitation, support, and guidance in one of the following programs: YMCA's DiabetesPrevention, LiveStrong at the YMCA, Blood Pressure Self-Management, EnhanceFitness, and Weight Loss.
Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver curriculum to participants in effective, meaningful, and compelling ways.
• Encourage participation and interaction through the use of Listen First and facilitation skills in a group or one-to-one setting.
• Facilitate commitment and retention of participants in programs and YMCA membership when applicable.
• Create a motivating environment that is friendly and non-competitive.
• Foster relationships with and/or between participants.
• Fulfill preparation responsibilities specific to each session.
• Provide follow-up to participants who are unable to attend based on program model.
• Require, support and/or encourage goal setting regularly based on program model.
• Record and complete data entry for each participant within 48 hours of the class per program model.
• Arrive for class on time and dressed appropriately. (Stated in Appearance Policy).
• Participate in all program-related discussions (meetings, emails, or conference calls).
• YMCA's DPP: We require that all HealthyLifestyle Facilitators agree to teach two 1-year long classes per year andmaintain their preferences of borough, times, and days up to date with theProgram Coordinator so they can be called on to teach when new classes form.

Desired Skills & Experience:

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Strong facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills. 
• Experience with database and/or Excel preferred.
• Participation in all program pre-requisite trainings and program trainings required for each specialty.
• Certifications must be obtained within 180 days of hire (see Addendum)
• Knowledge of basic health, nutrition, and fitness is encouraged. An understanding of behavior change required.
• Must have strong communication and relationship building skills, the ability build community within a group, and have empathy for health seekers.
• Must be flexible to work with a wide variety of people.
• Must be detail oriented, data and computer savvy.
• Must have ability tomanage appropriate communication pertaining to sensitive health information.
