Position Title: Health Science Education Magnet Teacher
Salary Range: Teacher Contract Salary
Contract Length: Contractual Year
Position Summary:
This position requires a certified teacher's license and prior school leadership experience.
This position entails monitoring all aspects of the Health Science magnet program.
Immediate
Supervisor: Building Principal and Director of Career & Technical Education
Job Description:
•Maintain curriculum updates to meet changing IN state standards for health careers
•Maintain updated curriculum to meet current industry standards
•Organize an advisory committee and hold a minimum of two meetings per school year
•Assign duties among teachers within the medical magnet to ensure program coordination occurs,
deadlines are met and responsibilities are logically and equitably shared
•Monitor the organization and supervision for clinical site experiences for students
•Work with CTE to monitor the early college process and dual credit process
•Communicate regularly with parents and provide opportunities for parent involvement
•Maintain open communication with administrators of all high schools in regard to grades, attendance, and behavior
•Monitor the integration of College and Career Readiness Standards for reading,
writing and math skills into the health career curriculum
•Actively participate in ongoing curriculum development
•Assist instructors in implementing innovative instructional practices
•Participate in recruitment activities and monitoring of magnet student enrollment
•Maintain and update district/school M drive containing Excel spreadsheet of magnet students
•Work with CTE in maintaining state and federal reporting requirements
•Work with CTE in the monitoring of placement of students in work-based learning opportunities
•Work with CTE to coordinate student follow-up and maintain data on program effectiveness
•Maintain equipment and supply inventories
•Work with administration and CTE to maintain program equipment and supplies
Qualifications:
•Must hold a valid Indiana teaching license
•Evidence of successful building leadership experience required
•Curriculum and organizational skills required
•Flexible, positive, and proactive in working with others
•Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with students, faculty and administration.
