Job description

The Curriculum Manager of Foundations 2 and Career Launch manages two phases of the Bridges Curriculum overseeing the course and program requirements of 3rd and 4th year medical students. Foundations 2 (F2) is the 48-week phase of the UCSF medical student Bridges Curriculum in which students complete their core clerkship training with an emphasis on applying foundational sciences to patient care. The Bridges Foundations 2 Curriculum Manager will support faculty and staff in the development, implementation and improvement of the F2 curriculum. Foundations 2 activities include: Clinical Immersion Experiences (CIExes), innovative clinical electives; FS in F2, a longitudinal curriculum that integrates foundational and clinical sciences; and the core clerkships, currently organized in Thematic Clinical Blocks.
In addition to Foundations 2, the Curriculum Manager oversees the design and delivery of the Career Launch phase of the Bridges Curriculum. The Career Launch phase of the curriculum is also known as the 4th year. Career Launch is the final, highly individualized phase of the Bridges Curriculum, lasting 61 weeks. It includes dedicated time for students to complete scholarly projects while they pursue advanced clinical training that prepares them for their chosen career paths. In addition, it includes the Introduction to Career Launch and Coda courses, as well as an advanced longitudinal clinical preceptorship experience.

  • Overall, the Curriculum Manager overseees the design and implementation of two phases of the Bridges Curriculum, as well as school and national projects by: Managing multiple projects and delegating to the team to design, conduct, and evaluate teaching and learning activities, scheduling, core competencies, assessment and evaluations across the two phases of the curriculum.
  • The Manager and their team will initiate and develop efforts to create standardization in the F2 and Career Launch phases of the curriculum to ensure the student experience is consistent and equitable.
  • The incumbent strategizes, plans, and leads implementation of substantial program improvements within the F2 and Career Launch curriculum, the Dean's Office and school wide within the departments working with Department clerkship directors, clerkships coordinators and chairs. The operational or program results can affect overall organization-wide performance and reputation if systems are not in place to manage changes to requirements for clerkships.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
