Provide support for the Director of Health Professions and employees within Health Professions, playing an integral and critical role in the day-to-day operations of the department. Includes coordination of administrative procedures within the Health Professions Programs. Individual is responsible for making appointments, scheduling meetings, taking notes, entering course schedules, disseminating information, and assisting with the timely submission of Health Professions reports, when applicable. Provides integral support with specific duties, including Health Professions student application processes, accreditation efforts, testing coordination, and purchasing. Works collaborative, as a team member, with all Administrative Assistants. Works with enthusiasm and positive spirit and maintains strictest confidentiality regarding all office and personnel matters. Provides administrative support for Health Professions at the Middletown Campus, Fauquier Campus, and Luray-Page County Center, as well as satellite locations.
Telework
According to DHRM policy 1.61 Teleworking, effective July 5, 2022, Virginia state employees will return to the workplace. Consistent with pre-pandemic policies, telework may be an option for certain eligible positions. Eligible positions are determined by the type of work and job requirements of the position, as defined by heads of agencies.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Education or training in administrative support technology or related field or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated and Proficient Technology skills with experience in educational and office technologies including: Microsoft Office, Outlook, Student Information System, Canvas, Google Platforms/Tools, and/or the ability to quickly achieve proficiency based on underlying technology skills.
  • Evidence of positive working relationships with colleagues, other professionals, and the public.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission, vision, values, and philosophy of the VCCS, college, and department.

Additional Considerations
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with ability to manage interactions with visitors, students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with ability to tailor communication to multiple audiences.
  • Ability to assist Health Professions professors with instructional needs in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-faceted office environment while keeping multiple priorities in focus and in progress.
  • Proficient with office procedures, planning, time management, and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop administrative procedures in the department, and to coordinate their implementation to Health Professions personnel.
  • Knowledge of computer programs used in the Nursing, EMS, Surgical Technology, Dental Hygiene, Med Lab Tech, Phlebotomy, PTA, and any future Health Professions programs, or the ability to quickly acclimate to these programs.
  • Command of confidentiality, resolving concerns, and tact are required.
  • Ability to proactively support specific initiatives, including accreditation efforts, student application processes, and other duties, as assigned.
