This is a full-time, AFT position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Note: This position is in the “NL” category of employment (non-fixed work week) An AFT- NL professional staff member or librarian who is required to work beyond 35 hours shall be compensated through compensatory time off. Compensatory time shall be earned for hours worked beyond the normal work week, or on an employee’s regular day off, if requested and approved by their supervisor.

JOB SUMMARY
10-month Health Educator position (September 1st – June 30th) reports to the Director of the Center for Health and Counseling Services (CHCS) The Health Educator will be responsible for promoting, coordinating, implementing and evaluating health education programs, including but not limited to, mental health promotion, sleep, nutrition, stress management, and alcohol and other drug prevention. The Health Educator oversees and supervises the Wellness is Now (WIN) team, a peer health advocate program.
Note: This position is not funded through the regular College budget and it must be understood that continued employment is contingent upon the availability of funding. (Position is currently funded through June 30, 2028).
Examples of Duties
Provides wellness education and workshops for students focusing on well-being, mental health, alcohol and/other drug prevention, and health-related issues
Engages in strategic planning for ongoing, comprehensive and integrated wellness programming to be infused within the College community
Utilizes assessment data to inform wellness program
Acts as a liaison to and collaborates with other College units that provide outreach services such as The Office of Violence Prevention, the Women’s Center, and Mindfulness at Ramapo in addition to student groups such as Active Minds and Resident Assistants (RAs)
Coordinates the outreach programs for CHCS which includes marketing outreach programs, coordinating incoming requests for outreach programs and facilitating the process of staff participation to meet these requests
Organizes and conducts suicide prevention events
Markets and oversees wellness and prevention apps, online peer programs, and utilizes social network sites to provide health education messages to campus community
Oversees the College’s Wellness room
Recruits, trains and supervises members of the Wellness is Now (WIN) peer mentor program
Oversees all prevention programming conducted by the WIN peers
Oversees the Health Promotion website and assists with the management of CHCS websites
Assists the Director with grant writing, reporting and carrying our functions of grant, if appropriate
Other duties as assigned
This position will be required to work some evenings and/or weekends, as needed, in order to reach the broader college population with respect to programming and outreach. Occasional weekend/holiday work (e.g., First-Year Student Move-in Day) may be required
