Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health education, community education, or related field
  • Minimum three years’ experience working in a healthcare or community health environment
  • Knowledge of learning processes and application to health education curriculum
  • Project management skills and ability to prioritize assignments to meet organizational and department objectives
  • Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, and decision-making to achieve goals
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with OMC employees and community partners; must be equally effective working independently or on a team
  • Experience with marketing account management and program development in a healthcare and business environment
  • Experience with promotion within a healthcare and business environment
  • Presentation and team facilitation experienced required
  • Knowledge of patient education techniques and behavior change theories
  • Wellness coaching and motivational interviewing skills desired; wellness coach certification ideal
  • Computer skills to include but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint; ability to learn computer apps
  • Wellness-minded and role model for healthy living

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops goals, makes recommendations, and implements plans for health promotion efforts that are consistent with the strategic initiatives and mission of OMC.
  • Responsible for leading the strategic planning of OMComplete Wellness.
  • Responsible for planning, coordination, and implementation of OMC wellness initiatives and activities throughout the year including but not limited to the annual employee wellness/benefits fair. Position will work with OMC’s community outreach coordinator and patient education program coordinator.
  • Works in collaboration with employee health nurse and occupational health to determine employee and corporate needs related to wellness.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of the marketing/communication plan for OMC wellness program. Responsible for e-mail Health and Wellness newsletter for OMC staff and patients.
  • Provides one-on-one wellness counseling and health education for employees as appropriate; directing individuals to appropriate programs and services such as screenings, coaching, fitness, weight loss, active transportation, etc..
  • Responsible for building partnerships in the community to strengthen the OMC Wellness program.
  • Participates in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives related to wellness.
  • Participates as a member of the Olmsted County Wellness Works Steering Committee.
  • Participates in grant writing for funding of programs as necessary.
  • Represents OMC during community events and speaking engagements.
  • Maintains high standards of professionalism in community with clinicians and other staff.
  • Must be willing to work flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.
