Our client is a stealth space startup that is developing a network of ultra-wideband (UWB) gateways to create a data highway between earth and space. As the space economy expands, the new bottleneck becomes the rate at which spacecraft can reliably transmit and receive data. This is addressed by a scalable digital ground network.

Their innovative solutions will achieve faster, more reliable, and affordable satellite communications and as Head of Antenna Engineering you will play a key role in their journey.
This position is based in El Segundo, CA. More company details will be shared during an initial call.
Key Responsibilities
- Define antenna and feed system for Electronically Scanned Array (ESA) for SATCOM.
- Drive antennas, feed systems, and RF front end designs through development from initial analysis to prototype and characterization.
- Contribute to software development and testing used to demonstrate full ESA functionality.
- Work with cross-functional team to integrate antenna designs into array system
- Analyze real-world performance data of ESA systems, help debug issues when they arise, and look into methods to improve performance.
Qualifications
- Experience with RF simulation software (HFSS, COMSOL, or similar)
- Ability to analyze antenna systems (antenna isolation, patterns with large structures, propagation effects, etc.) in simulation and test.
- Strong foundations in antennas and RF concepts such as impedance matching, smith chart, microwave network analysis, and power handling metrics.
- 7+ years of experience of research and/or development in antenna design
- Experience in phased array antenna development
- Ability to fabricate and characterize prototypes of Antennas, antenna feed systems, and RF front ends.
- Familiar with antenna measurement techniques and tools
- Programming experience in Python, C++, or MATLAB
- Ability to work in a fast paced and autonomously driven startup environment.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
