Falcomm was founded with a mission to bring semiconductor innovation to the real world. Today, Falcomm is actively developing new semiconductor technologies for customers to provide the most energy efficient power amplifier products in the world. Falcomm is seeking a highly motivated Graduate RFICDesign Intern with interest in designing in CMOS, BiCMOS, and GaN processes on industry standard EDA tools. An ideal candidate is able to learn quickly, is highly detail-oriented, takes pride in the quality of their work, and wants to make a real impact in creating ultra energy efficient power amplifier technologies for the wireless communication market.

Graduate RFIC Design Intern

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Co-designing high efficiency mm-Wave Power Amplifiers
  • Document and present design process effectively
  • EM-simulating passive RF structures in HFSS
  • Evaluate and characterize power amplifier prototypes
  • Assist in the development of automated test lab equipment for lab measurements
  • On-wafer RF probing

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering
  • Must be an efficient user of Cadence (Virtuoso)/Agilent ADS / Mentor tools / HFSS
  • Good knowledge of IC design, simulation, layout, and system level design
  • Familiarity in CMOS/III-V RFIC/MMIC Design
  • Knowledge of RF basics concepts such as smith chart, P1dB, IP3, NF, return loss, etc.
  • Knowledge of RF circuit/system theory and architectures
  • Experience with RF PCB design for IC validation testing
  • Ability to generate clear technical presentations and summarize data
  • Passionate about RF/microwave integrated circuits
  • Excited about innovation
  • Desire to learn

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong mmWave power amplifier design experience
  • Master/bachelor’s in electrical engineering with an emphasis in RF/microwave integrated circuits design
  • Experience using simulation tools such as Keysight PathWave Designs Suite (ADS, SystemVue, GoldenGate, Momentum, Spectre, HFSS)
  • Strong circuit design skills, and experience performing analysis and simulation of both linear and non-linear circuits for power amplifiers and other related RF circuit blocks
  • Knowledge of digital communication systems, spread spectrum, single and multi-carrier techniques and modulation types such as QPSK, APSK and QAM
  • Knowledge of RF transceiver architectures
  • RF/microwave design in the GSM band, Ku-band, K-band and Ka-band frequency range
  • RF measurement experience with PNA, Spectrum Analyzer, Power Meter, Signal Generator
  • Experience with on-wafer probing techniques and considerations
  • Understanding of calibration and measurement uncertainty
  • Experience with python programming and/or automation methods
  • Experience with statistical analysis methods

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be pursuing a graduate degree in Engineering (PhD/Master in Electrical Engineering is preferred)
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
  • Must be available to work an average of 40 hours per week
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0
