Join our team as an Antenna Design Engineer! Under the Antenna Systems Department (ASD) under our Communication Technologies Engineering Division (CTED), you'll play a crucial role in shaping the future of communication. Our daily mission involves modeling, simulation, and rapid prototyping. From developing CubeSat payloads to fine-tuning antenna designs in our cutting-edge anechoic chamber, you'll be at the forefront of innovation. Dive into software-defined radio communications, collect vital signals, and contribute to our RF systems. When you join our team, you'll also be part of a special collection of problem solvers, thought leaders, and innovators in CTED. Join us and take your place in space. CTED's domains include main-mission communication satellites, wideband links, command and telemetry, and terrestrial networks, along with their enabling technologies. The division comprises all aspects, from architecture to implementation; our engineers work directly with corporate customers to ensure robust and resilient communications.
What You'll Be Doing

  • Design, fabricate and test antennas to meet tough demands of modern communications systems
  • Develop and test novel antenna concepts to inform future programs of record
  • Support development and construction of ground stations
  • Deliver antenna measurements in our 3 antenna ranges
  • Perform trade studies to stay abreast of latest products
  • Provide technical assessment reports to program offices and/or line management
  • Project roles span all phases of product development cycle, from IRAD/ technology development to established programs delivering integrated comm systems. Systems engineering activities include antenna architecture design, trade studies, specification development, requirement definition and allocation, performance analysis and simulation; system modeling and simulation tool development, and support to hardware design, manufacturing, integration and test.

Work Model: The majority will be required onsite in El Segundo, CA with some telecommuting possible depending on the needs of our customers
What You Need to be Successful - Member of Technical Staff
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical subject area
  • Minimum of 3-years of related experience including antenna design, analysis and measurement
  • Knowledgeable using commercial and/or custom modeling and simulation tools for RF or Antenna analysis
  • Experience working with RF hardware and test equipment
  • Collaborating with customers and on project teams
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally as needed
  • This position requires an active Top Secret/SCI security clearance along with the ability to obtain and maintain at least a Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph, which is issued by the US government. US citizenship is required

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field of study
  • Experience in both RF and antenna analysis and design
  • Work with ground stations, especially the satellite control network (SCN)
  • Proficiency with a variety of popular analysis tools such as ADS, Microwave Office, HFSS, Feko, CST, and GRASP
  • Leadership of small teams for projects related to antenna systems, radar systems, SIGINT processing, communication systems, and hardware prototyping
  • A background in scientific programming using languages such as C, C++, MATLAB, Python
  • Experience in DoD, NASA, and/or NRO programs

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
