Join our prestigious Mizner Country Club located in Delray Beach, Florida as the Head Mechanic, a crucial role within our Agronomy Team. You'll lead a comprehensive preventative and corrective maintenance program, focusing on our newly redesigned Golf Course's equipment, facilities, and technology. Collaborating closely with the Director of Grounds, you will ensure all our equipment is impeccably maintained, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and professional development among the staff.
The position reports to the Director, Adam Jalowiec.
ABOUT MIZNER COUNTRY CLUB:
Mizner Country Club is a private, residential golf community located conveniently west of the Atlantic Avenue entrance to Florida's Turnpike. The club is recognized as a Platinum Club of America, the social atmosphere is welcoming and fashions friendships that truly make Mizner special.
Mizner’s 18-hole, par 72 private Golf Course, has been completely redesigned by Kipp Schulties, creating a world-class golf links that is as gorgeous to view as it is rewarding to play. The course winds boldly through native foliage and wetlands, flanked by lush greenery which serves as a serene backdrop to the rolling fairways. TifEagleTM greens are guarded by imaginative bunkers, and reflective lakes are tactically placed throughout the course. The game of golf has been made infinitely more exciting at Mizner, while maintaining playability for all levels.

- Staff members - 18 full-time crew (includes Irrigation Tech), + 1 part-time assistant + 1 full time assistant (open position) + 1 office coordinator + 1 Director
- Equipment type - Toro/Kubota/ClubCar - mix of lease and own
- Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses. Platinum Club.
- We have three separate, two-week Golf Course closings for all of our Agricultural Practices (scalping, aerating, verticutting, etc.) where we work 10-12 hours days to complete all the work.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- 3-4 years as an Equipment Manager with a progressive career pathway, but will consider Assistant Equipment Managers working under a reputable supervisor.
- Minimum of certification in automotive repair, diesel engine, or similar fields.
- Preferred certifications from GCSAA.
- Strong working knowledge of turf equipment and ability to perform repairs at a high level.
- Experience with Tifeagle and Celebration bermudagrass in South Florida at a high-end private club is preferred.
- Possession of a valid driver's license, possibly a commercial driver's license (CDL).

KEY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, APTITUDE AND OTHER TRAITS:
Equipment Maintenance
- Inspect, diagnose, service and repair mechanical or electric issues on all Golf Course maintenance equipment.
- Alongside the Director of Grounds will demonstrate preventive maintenance and the proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment to all Golf Course staff.
- Strong knowledge of the operation of internal combustion engines and mower grinding, sharpening, and adjustments.
- Maintains a preventive maintenance program within budget on all equipment, and purchases repair parts and replacement supplies.
- Spot checks equipment for performance on the course, makes emergency repairs to equipment on the course, and services or supervises servicing of equipment prior to use.
- Excellent working knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations about equipment, petroleum, and all other products used at the maintenance facility.
- Proficient in interpreting repair manuals, instruction sheets, and hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Torching/Welding repairs to equipment.
- Ensures optimal quality of cut for all playing surfaces daily.
- Communicates with the management team daily to optimize daily operations and conditioning standards.
- Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various Golf Course maintenance equipment, including, diesel-, electric- and gasoline-powered automobiles, trucks, trenchers, sweepers, rollers, mowers, and other mechanical equipment used in utility work.
- Regulates employees' use of equipment in absence of superintendent and assistant superintendent, if needed, and performs other duties as directed by the Director.
- Create, manage, and facilitate onboarding for all new employees such as new hire orientation, safety standards, equipment service standards and initial equipment training, maintenance facility cleaning, and organizational standards.
- Builds relationships with industry suppliers, technicians, and trade schools to provide continuous development for Mizner Country Club employees.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with team members and management.
- Records equipment and parts inventory purchases, equipment hours and usage, costs of repairs, and preventive maintenance for all equipment.
- Order, maintain, and track fuel usage by Golf Course Maintenance.
- Establishes and maintains purchase orders, and budgets for equipment fleet and maintenance complex.
- Profound knowledge of basic computer skills to add information to computerized vehicle maintenance programs.
- Latest trends in grounds equipment industry technology, knowledge of the game of golf and understanding of how job performance affects the playing conditions of the Golf Course.
- Instructs and/or trains Golf Course maintenance workers regarding preventive maintenance, and the proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment.
- Oversees the shop area maintenance.
