BASIC FUNCTIONS: Provides positive learning experiences associated with the sports program. Provide guidance, leadership, and the fundamental skills necessary to execute the program in a successful manner. Assume the leadership role in relation to team organization, style of play, practice schedules, equipment and assigned responsibilities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Teach basic fundamentals necessary for successful participation
  2. Provide the necessity for practice and supervision in order for continued improvement
  3. Teach responsibilities of rules and regulations, care of equipment and facilities, fair play, respect for others, personal hygiene and safety
  4. Hold necessary practices to prepare players for competition
  5. Reflect enthusiasm for the program and participants in order to make it a worthwhile endeavor for students and parents
  6. Maintain equipment and prepare inventory
  7. Follow school, district and W.I.A.A. rules and regulations
  8. Head coach will assign duties for all assistants
  9. Coordinate the program for all levels of the activity within the school
  10. Conduct self in an ethical manner during practices and games and model and require discipline and ethical behavior from players
  11. Monitor and enforce scholastic eligibility of players
  12. Supervise players at contest, in locker room and to and from games
  13. Continually update techniques and skills through course work and clinics
  14. Complete pre-season and post-season duties in a timely and efficient manner

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  1. Demonstrated knowledge of fundamentals of the game/sport, practice organization, rules and safety and game management
  2. Demonstrated ability to develop positive relations with assistants, players, opposing coaches, teams, umpires, staff, parents and the community
  3. Ability to organize and demonstrate skills to both assistants and athletes
  4. Ability to communicate in a positive manner with the media and the public
  5. Ability to motivate a variety of individual personalities toward a successful and positive learning/playing experience
  6. Ability to analyze the game and to create appropriate training sessions that reflect those observations
  7. Model appropriate behavior to students and spectators
  8. Allow involvement and decision-making of players and student participants to the degree appropriate
  9. Encourage and recognize positive conduct at student activities
  10. Model sportsmanlike conduct in dealing with officials and opponents regardless of the circumstances
  11. Teach rules, skills, and strategies to ensure student participants thoroughly understand the game/activity
  12. Review and assess the co-curricular program according to an established cycle in order to provide excellence in program and enhance student development
  13. Previous coaching experience specific to open position desired
  14. Must possess First Aid/CPR card
  15. Have general knowledge of training techniques and care of injuries
  16. Willingness to maintain and improve knowledge through regular course work and clinics
  17. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, parents and community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Must be 19 years of age or older for assistant coach position.
  2. Must be 21 years of age or older for head coach position.

Retirement and Deferred Compensation

These are supplemental retirement savings programs that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
