Head Football Coach/Teacher 2024-2025

Qualifications:

1.  A Bachelor's Degree in education/in compliance with MHSAA
2. A valid Mississippi teaching certificate/in compliance with MI-ISAA
3. Strong communication, both oral and in written, skills are required
4. Strong interpersonal skills are required to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents and members of the community
5. Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of the game of football
6. Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching
7. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
8. CDL license or ability to obtain
9. Any other qualifications deemed appropriate by the NMSD Board of Education

Personnel Reporting to This Position:
Middle School Head Football Coach and All High School Assistant Football Coaches
Job Goal:
This position is responsible for establishing and leading a successful high school football program. This position shall set an example of an exceptional professional educator and be ever mindful that both coach and player represent the Newton Municipal School District and are expected to conduct themselves in an exemplary manner.
This position shall be responsible for administering a successful and competitive program, that includes the development of self-discipline, character, teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, citizenship, responsibility, academic excellence and the molding of the leaders of tomorrow's society. This position will be to encourage student participation and manage the successful day-to-day operations of the entire football program.

Job Duties:

1. Organizes and leads the successful high school football program
2. Provides guidance and leadership to assistant coaches and the evaluation of all football staff.
3. Supervises and collaborates with the middle school football coach on the focus and progress of the middle school football program
4. Prepares successful practice plans and game plans
5. Establishes and maintains rapport with students and encourages student participation
6. Motivates students to achieve maximum potential
7. Organizes and leads after school practice sessions in accordance with MI-ISAA policies and regulations
8. Organizes and leads a spring practice
9. Schedules and plays a minimum of 10 games per season

 

• Rides bus for away games
• Maintains a clean and organized locker room

 

1. Works collaboratively with staff, families and community resources
2. Maintains compliance with all rules and regulations of the Mississippi High School Activities Association
3. Assists Athletic Director with all home game preparations
4. Assists Athletic Director with all practice and game field turf management
5. Maintains and assists Athletic Director with lining playing field
6. Maintains compliance with MHSAA
7. Conducts off season program of weights, conditioning, etc., as allowed by MHSAA

Terms of Employment:
To be employed for the period of time set forth by the MHSAA and the school district. Salary to be established by Board policy and salary schedule
Evaluation:
Performance in this position will be evaluated annually by the Athletic Director and Principal.
In the event the coach of this position is the Athletic Director, the Principal will conduct the evaluation.
