PURPOSE
This position will maintain the cheerleading program.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Maintaining the Cheer program at Battle High School.
  • Supervising Cheerleading assistant coaches at Battle High School.
  • Maintaining positive communication with patrons and parents of athletes and potential athletes.
  • Coordinating off-season camps and conditioning programs.
  • Encouraging good sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the sport.
  • Collaborating with other coaches to ensure a comprehensive approach to athletes.
  • Ensuring compliance with MSHAA.
  • Maintaining statistics on all players.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports To: Athletic Director/Assistant Principal
Supervises: None
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum: 60 hours of college credit is required; Missouri Substitute teaching certificate is required; Sport First Aid Course is required.
If hired as a coach via a substitute certificate, the individual must satisfactorily complete (make a grade of 80% to pass) a MSHSAA approved coaches education program (NFICEP) before he/she can be hired for a coaching position in any subsequent year. In addition, all coaches despite certification status must attend a NFICEP first-aid class and pass the exit test given at that time.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree; Missouri teaching certificate; Prior teaching/coaching experience.

ADA REQUIREMENTS
Language: Read, analyze and interpret professional journals, Board policy, administrative procedures and forms and governmental regulations and guidance; Complete forms and write reports; Present information effectively and respond to questions.
Computation: Perform basic mathematical functions such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing; Apply concepts; such as, fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning: Solve a variety of problems in many different situations; Interpret instructions presented in written, oral, diagram or schedule form; Apply knowledge of current educational theory and instructional techniques while presenting subject matter to students.
Other Skills and Abilities: Identify needs and abilities of individual students and to adapt instructional methods accordingly; establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, administrators, and parents; perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Technology: Perform basic computer functions such as word processing and internet use; Use district software for finding student information; Utilize smart boards, projectors and other instructional technology provided by the district.
Physical Demands: Speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously; Move around a classroom, gymnasium, and playing field; Read handwritten or printed material.
Attendance: Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position: Requires frequent evening and/or weekend work related to practice and competition; Evenings and/or weekends travel to accompany students to games and meets.
Sensory Requirements: The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking.
Conditions and Environment: Regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active; And will be required to work outdoors.
