The purpose of a Hatchery Maintenance Mechanic is to perform all assigne maintenance duties within class to include equipment repairs, PM's and emergency response on equipment.
Responsible to move throughout the facility, reach vertical heights up to 60’ to perform repairs, PM’s, and monitor equipment in both open and confined spaces. Use of vehicle to transfer selves, tools and equipment to perform and meet the mechanical/electrical knowledge, skills and abilities of a “B” Mechanic per attached sheet. Performs preventive maintenance as assigned which includes, but is not limited to, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, fabrication, rebuilding of equipment, gearboxes, pumps, etc. Respond to emergencies during both scheduled and off duty hours to ensure operations continue on a 24 hour a day basis. Must be able to fill in for production workers when need arrises for such action to be taken. Generates and submits paperwork relative to work locations such a workorders, timecards, job-cards and anything related to meetings, safety, BMP, etc. Perform all equipment repairs and daily work within OSHA regulations, lockout/tag-out, Hatchery BMP/SOP and Perdue safety guidelines.
Reading, writing, math and analytical skills required with a high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
3 years. Valid state drivers license (Class “C”), knowledge, skills, and abilities of a “B” Mechanic.
Exposed to existing weather conditions while outside and controlled room/machine conditions while inside work is performed. Exposed to air born dust, chemicals such as Formaldehyde, Peroxide, caustic cleaners/disinfectants and industrial lubricants. Must have the ability to move through the facility and carry required equipment, tools which could weigh as much as 100 lbs. Must wear required company uniforms and safety equipment including necessary PPE, respirators, etc. as required.
