Position Summary
Red Lion Controls has an exciting opportunity for a Sustaining Hardware Engineer focused on managing various Red Lion products. Product responsibility will require the person to work with Design Engineers to understand the product intent and functionality. This understanding will support Production personnel during procurement, inspection and build of products. This role will help release a product and manage component EOLs and cost reduction objectives and evaluate new technologies. It is anticipated that the career trajectory for this role will enable movement into an engineering design role in several years. However, initial focus will be on learning current product lines and sustaining engineering for those products.
Essential Job Functions

  • Learn and be responsible for sustaining for Red Lion products.
  • Data Entry into MRP system.
  • Work with other departments to transition products to manufacturing and "first line" support for production when problems or better manufacturing techniques develop.
  • Responsible for quality control of assigned product lines via communication with both development engineering and production
  • The product engineer aids and supports development engineering about new component evaluation, obtaining appropriate test data, building and testing of prototypes and recommendation of changes in design to simplify assembly or installation.
  • Evaluates second source components for existing products, reviews finished products for quality control purposes and may assist in writing technical reports.
  • Ability to interpret Schematics and Mechanical drawings.
  • Comply with internal and external standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work as a team member to solve problems and complete tasks creatively and cooperatively.

Minimum Requirements
  • Associates degree in Engineering, Computer Science, electronics related field, and/or equivalent experience.
  • ~1-3 years hands-on hardware design or sustaining experience including proficiency with technologies related to embedded microprocessor and graphics controller systems, high-speed interfaces, AC and DC power circuits, analog and digital I/O design, touchscreen displays and network interfaces.
  • Ability to Solder a plus.
  • Awareness of EMI/EMC and industrial regulatory and compliance certifications.
  • Demonstrates oral and written English communication skills to effectively interface with all levels of company management, staff, and customers and outside business contacts.
  • Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Hardware Experience
  • Familiar with engineering tools: Oscilloscopes, debuggers, soldering tools etc.
  • PCB design experience
  • SMT/TH Soldering skills
  • Troubleshooting skills both Mechanical and Electrical.

Software Experience
  • Microsoft Office Tools
  • Experience with MRP systems a plus.
