A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HARD SKILLS TRAINER

As a Hard Skills Trainer with our nonprofit, you're responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and conducting training that results in industry-recognized credentials for our clients. You use your teaching skills to develop classes in a variety of high-demand sectors, including hospitality, child development, Microsoft Office, digital literacy, and others. When developing training, you establish and present approved lesson plans with clear objectives and outcomes as well as administer handouts, textbooks, workbooks, and web-based resources. You give assignments to learners as well as track their performance and progress.

In addition, you maintain a clear written calendar of weekly classes and monthly rotational schedules. You also organize hiring fairs and presentations from hiring managers for learners on a quarterly basis. As needed, you conduct non-compliance outreach via phone, letter, and home visits as well as track and submit attendance. Using multiple sources, you build relationships with potential employers and other community-based organizations. You assist learners with rapid job searching, resume writing, and interviewing as well as compile data for reports, including client timesheets, placement, and retention.

Stressing urgency and ownership, you guide clients through a learning-by-doing process during their job search activities. You document all activities, participation, compliance, and employment progress in our system and participate in learning collaboratives through both regional and online conferences. When you aren't training, you assist in answering phones or accepting documentation via email. Your passion for education shines through when engaging with our learners, and it brings you great fulfillment to know you thrive in this teaching position with our nonprofit!
