Our Hanover Specialty Insurance Brokers, a Wholesale Brokerage Agency, is seeking a Specialty Account Manager to join our growing team.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Within Hanover Specialty Insurance Brokers, a Wholesale Brokerage Agency, the Account Manager is responsible for managing all accounts within the assigned territory once they are successfully written by an internal or external underwriter.  This includes regular and purposeful communication with Hanover agents, underwriters, and retail agents.  The Account Manager must be able to manage his/her own workload with limited transactional oversight. In addition to providing communication and marketing support to clients, the Account Manager is expected to demonstrate expertise in the relevant coverage areas and product capabilities/limitations.  Their knowledge of excess and surplus compliance requirements and business processes is applied in all transactions.

 

This is a full-time/exempt role.

 

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

  • Responsible for servicing, selling, and building relationships with underwriters and retail agents while learning all aspects of the wholesale insurance business.
  • Manage and serve as primary contact on active accounts for agents, underwriters, and internal stakeholders within assigned territory.
  • Responsible for receiving applications, marketing to internal business unit or external underwriter, presenting quotes, and binder follow-up.  
  • Proficiently understands and manages the state specific SL form requirements.
  • Understand, compare, and explain coverage form language to sell and retain policies.
  • Identify sales, service, retention, and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Identify renewal dynamics (competition/underwriting/other) and handle all potential issues and opportunities as appropriate. This may involve negotiating with agents or underwriters, marketing renewal accounts externally, and addressing open items.
  • Evaluates quotes/policies for accurate carrier name, SL Tax and Fee amount, and state specific wording to remain compliant.
  • Manage transition from new accounts into renewal account.
  • Manage new agent on-boarding process, including system setup, brokerage agreements and introductions.
  • Handle compliance-related activities, including excess and surplus requirements, and procedures.
  • Own and resolve account issues and complaints timely and utilize all available resources.
  • Maintain up to date summary of all accounts, within 90 days of renewal, and provide detailed summaries of all accounts during monthly renewal meetings.
  • Responsibilities include diligent follow-up on Agency Bill account receivables. 

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:  

  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years Property & Casualty Insurance experience required.
  • Surplus Lines/Wholesale Brokerage/Agency experience a plus
  • Property & Casualty Insurance License required or willing to obtain when hired.
  • Experience working with environmental insurance a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Track record of building strong working relationships and enjoys networking and sales.
  • Clear and concise documentation and attention to detail
  • Highly motivated and portrays a strong work ethic with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of self-directed learning, requiring minimal guidance
  • Resourceful and can tackle complex issues efficiently.

  • Willing to travel to agency and internal office locations for meetings.
  • Ability to work hybrid or home based and collaborate with team using video conferencing.
